# Getting Started

> Set up your Tandem account and add your first task.

## Create an account

Go to [telltandem.com](https://telltandem.com) and sign in with your Google account. Tandem is currently in early access — if you don't have access yet, you'll be notified when your spot is ready.

## Add your first task

Once you're in, you'll see the chat interface. Just type what you need to get done — no special format required.

```
I need to prep for my meeting with the design team on Friday
```

Tandem will ask a follow-up question or two to fill in any missing details, then propose a plan with subtasks. Review it, say "looks good", and it's saved.

## What happens next

Your task shows up in the task list with:

* A priority (must-do, good-to-do, or optional)
* A deadline if you mentioned one
* Subtasks broken down from the conversation
* Tags and a category auto-assigned from context

From there you can edit any field directly, add it to a project, or just leave it and let Tandem factor it into your **Today** plan.

## Tips for getting the most out of Tandem

* **Be specific about timing.** "I need to call the bank" is fine, but "I need to call the bank before Thursday" gives Tandem what it needs to prioritize correctly.
* **Don't overthink it.** Tandem is designed to work from rough, natural descriptions — you can always edit the details after.
* **Use projects for ongoing work.** If you have recurring efforts (a product launch, a home renovation), group those tasks into a project so they stay organized.
